Hi, i’m Amaani Noor — the writer behind Lowe & Gray, , a fantasy mystery series I’ve been working on for the past lifetime.I’m in my twenties, born in the UK with South Asian roots, and I’d like to describe myself as a collection of very specific little interests held together by tea.
When I’m not writing, I’m probably replaying one of my favourite cosy games, travelling somewhere new, journalling, reading, or becoming unnecessarily invested in some tiny object I absolutely did not need to buy. I have a particular weakness for cute things, which tends to manifest itself in an ever-growing collection of stationery, teacups, earrings, cosy jumpers and other little things that make everyday life feel more magical.I’ve always loved stories that make the ordinary feel a little magical. I love building worlds, following fictional characters down rabbit holes I probably shouldn't, and finding inspiration in art, folklore, places, and small details that catch my attention.A lot of those things found their way into Lowe & Gray. From the hidden world of Almara to its magic, mythology, strange little details and even the objects its characters carry, I wanted to create a world that felt like somewhere you could actually disappear into.Lowe & Gray has grown and changed alongside me. What started as an idea has become a world of its own, populated by characters I’ve become far too attached to and occasionally put through rather unfortunate circumstances. Sorry.

He serves as a mascot for the Lowe and Gray universe.Familiars are mystical creatures bound to a Sorcerer’s resonance. They act as emotional anchors and magical companions, their wellbeing tied directly to the life and stability of their mage.

About the Series
Lowe and Gray is a character-driven fantasy mystery series blending murder investigations and hidden magic. I began developing the series over seven years ago, building a world shaped by ancient magical traditions, powerful founding families, and the politics of a hidden society.The story follows Aurora Gray and Jensen Lowe, an unlikely detective duo drawn into mysteries that reach far beyond individual crimes, uncovering buried histories, dangerous artefacts and secrets that have been carefully kept hidden for generations.At its heart, Lowe & Gray explores themes of grief, trust, identity, legacy, and the cost of power. WHAT IS LOWE AND GRAY ABOUT?
Lowe and Gray is an upper YA fantasy series blending murder investigations, hidden magic, and noir-inspired storytelling. The series follows Aurora Gray, a grieving eighteen-year-old investigating her brother's mysterious death, and Jensen Lowe, a disgraced investigator with centuries of history and secrets of his own. What begins as a search for answers soon draws them into a much larger conflict involving hidden magical societies, ancient artefacts and dangerous secrets.
WHAT GENRE IS LOWE AND GRAY?
Lowe & Gray is an upper-YA fantasy mystery with elements of dark fantasy, supernatural mystery and adventure. There is a romance thread within the series, but the central story is the mystery, the characters and the wider magical world.
Lowe & Gray is written as upper YA, with an 18-year-old protagonist and themes that may appeal to older teens and adult fantasy readers.

WHAT INSPIRED THE BOOK?
Honestly, just about everything. I wanted to create a fantasy world influenced by the Islamic and South & West Asian stories, aesthetics, and cultural influences I rarely saw reflected in the fantasy novels I grew up reading. This ended up shaping a lot of the worldbuilding, lore and influences for Almara – the Sorcerer home country in Lowe and Gray. Almara is fictional, but its worldbuilding draws inspiration from a range of Islamic and South and West Asian histories, cultures, architecture, languages and folklore. It's not intended to represent any single real-world country or culture.
I've always been fascinated by the concept of magic and try find little pockets of it in everyday life, so it just seemed natural for me to write a novel with supernatural elements.
